Our Competitions
All members are encouraged to enter images into both internally and externally judged competitions. These competitions allow us the chance to receive constructive criticism on our images, as well as seeing the work of fellow members. Our different competitions are outlined below.

Challenge Nights
These are internal competitions judged by club members. This season we have two separate challenges for each round. The first theme is set by last year's challenge winner and the second theme by the committee.
Images must have been taken between the theme announcement and the challenge dates below. This competition challenges members to photograph a specific theme within a set time frame.
The challenge night themes for the 2026 – 2027 season are as follows.

Annual Batley Camera Club Competition
This is the biggest internal competition that we work towards throughout the year. All members are encouraged to enter either digital images, or printed images, or both. We critique images throughout the year to help all members improve and prepare for this competition. An external judge then critiques and scores these images on the competition night, and there are awards for the winners. There are various categories that you can enter, including portrait, travel, creative and landscape. Further information on entering this competition can be found on our club competition rules page.

18th May – Judging of the printed images
Battles
We have battle nights throughout the season where our images are judged against images from another local photography club. Both printed and projected images are shown, and an external judge will critique and score the images. The club with the most points overall is the winner. The images used for this competition are chosen from the annual competition entries by a small selection committee.
